1. Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information from you.

The Al-Madinah app does not require account creation, sign-in, or registration. You can use all features anonymously.

2. Location Data

The app may request access to your device's location only for the following local-use purposes:

• To calculate the distance between your current position and sacred places (e.g., "0 km from Masjid Nabawi").
• To provide directions when you tap "Navigate Here" (which opens Google Maps or your preferred maps app).

Your location data is processed entirely on your device. It is never transmitted to our servers, never stored, and never shared with any third party by us. Granting location permission is optional — the app works without it (distance information will simply be unavailable).

3. Favorites and Preferences

The app saves the following on your device using Android's local storage:

• Your selected language (English, Urdu, Arabic).
• Your favorited places list.

This data stays on your device only and is removed when you uninstall the app.

4. Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services for specific features:

• Google Maps — when you tap "Navigate Here" the app opens Google Maps for turn-by-turn directions. Google's privacy policy applies once you leave our app: https://policies.google.com/privacy
• OpenStreetMap (Leaflet) — used to render the interactive map screen. OpenStreetMap may receive your IP address when loading map tiles. Their policy: https://wiki.osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy
• Android System Text-to-Speech (TTS) — used to narrate the audio history of places. The TTS engine runs on your device and uses your selected language voice pack.

5. Permissions Used

The app requests the following permissions, each used strictly for the stated purpose:

• INTERNET — to load map tiles and external Leaflet library.
• ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION — to compute distance from sacred places (optional).
• ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — to detect if the device has internet for map tiles.

The app does not request: contacts, camera, microphone, SMS, phone, calendar, photos, or any other sensitive permission.

6. Data Storage and Security

All app data (your favorites and language preference) is stored locally in the app's private storage on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes this data.

7. Children's Privacy

Al-Madinah is suitable for all ages and is designed for educational and religious reference. We do not knowingly collect any data from any user, including children under 13.

8. Advertising

The app displays a small banner advertisement at the bottom of some screens, served by Google AdMob. This is the only monetization in the app — there are no popup ads, no full-screen ads, and no in-app purchases.

Google AdMob may collect limited information about your device and usage to serve relevant ads. This is governed by Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads

You may also see affiliate links for Hajj and Umrah travel services. If you book through these links, the developer may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. These help keep this educational app free.

9. Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the new version will be published at this same URL with a revised effective date. Significant changes will be communicated via the app's Play Store listing notes.
